In an interview with Authur Miller in The New York Times (Jan. 99), he lamented that there is no longer a mass audience for straight plays (non-musicals) and that there are actually few, if any, plays originating from New York. Because of high production costs and the excessive red tape, its easier to develop plays outside the city. Although many of these plays are terrific, theyre not homegrown. New York culture is so rich and diverse, its a shame its not cultivated more in the theatre. It was easy to rally a group of NY actors and theatre pros who felt the same way. Together we formed the Downtown Theatre Club.
At the Downtown Theatre Club you will always get your moneys worth. Not only do we make sure our audience gets a quality show at the best price. We make sure the whole evening goes as smoothly as possible. We scan the neighborhood of the show to find the best places to eat at the best prices before curtain and make sure you get tipped off to the best places to go after. You wont have to guess about parking or directions either.
